Your Body Nobi Firewood !!!

my window view

On a beautiful Saturday morning, my sleep was interrupted by some rays of light that found their way through the window into my hotel room.

6.05 am: I said my prayers and called the room service for a cup of coffee.

I made sure to book this particular room well ahead of time. Didn’t want stories. I can’t trade the view of Lagos streets from this particular room for anything. I wouldn’t forgive myself either.

The past week has been too stressful for me at the office. A lot of work went down as we had external auditors come to check our finances.

We didn’t want to be liquidated, so we had to set our butts on fire and our fingers to work before we get fired.

Alas! It paid off. The external auditors were impressed. I & my team did it !. Pulled in so much work in a short time.

So I’m here in one of the most sought-after rooms in the biggest hotel in Lagos trying to treat myself to some good and find enough time to rest.
A sort of reward for some good labor. I deserve this.

My coffee is here and while still dressed in my white robe. I went to sit by the window side. I wanted to feel what the Lagos streets typically look like.

On a Saturday morning, there’s still this rowdiness on the streets of Lagos? The traffic is already crazy?

Ain’t today Saturday?
School children, civil servants, and corporate workers are supposed to still be in bed.

But from my window view, I’m not seeing any difference between the hectic Mondays and the weekend.

When do people find time to rest?

Monday till Sunday
7 am till 11 pm

Every time, we are hustling. We Keep trying to make ends meet (what if the ends were made to never meet?) but we never find time to give rest to the body that enables us to do this work.

I just saw a young man running to jump into a moving danfo bus. He fell on the tarred road. I think he didn’t calculate his steps right.

I’m still trying to see how people gather to help him stand. But oh well, this is LAGOS!!. He stood up the next minute and hopped into the next bus.

Where would he be rushing to by this time?
All dressed in that lovely black suit with a mini briefcase in his hand.

Humans !!!

We need to place a balance. Yeah, a balance between WORK and REST.

I read and hear stories of people who leave for work as early as 5 am and return around midnight, working six days per week.

I know the bills won’t pay themselves. But they won’t either if the body breaks down.

As I write and indulge you to always make the weekends what it is for. I just remembered that I brought my laptop to the hotel with me cos I want to go over the audits report and draw up a summary for a board meeting on Monday 😂.

I am going to shut down my system and enjoy a full weekend REST.

The summary can wait.

That same thing you trying to get done at all means despite the challenges it’s imposing on you or your health can wait too.

Just REST

Your body needs it and will thank you.

Moreso, it will reward you with maximum productivity when you get back to work.

And in my dialect, we say, ZUKWANUIKE !!
